A hub for sustainable travel
Umeå Östra Travel Centre, with its characteristic architecture, is strategically located directly adjacent to the university hospital and the university area.
Connecting two neighbourhoods
With the motivation “Umeå Östra travel centre beautifully connects two city districts and is a generously designed public space that welcomes people”, the travel centre was awarded the Swedish Transport Administration’s Architecture Prize 2013. Umeå Östra has also received an honourable mention in the international railway and architecture-oriented design and architecture competition, the Brunel Awards.
The building is glazed on two floors, with a shell construction of glulam inside the glass. The choice of materials and sophisticated lighting create an attractive meeting place. The non-reflective glass allows visitors to see the trains no matter where they are in the building.

Umeå Östra was opened in 2010 and is one of several travel centres built in connection with the Bothnia Line. INAB owns the station property and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the travel centre. The Swedish Transport Administration is responsible for maintaining the tracks and platforms.

Umeås energiomställning – när systemförändring börjar med hur vi arbetar tillsammans
Med ett nytt energiprogram som grund har Umeå kommun, Umeå Energi och Umeå klimatfärdplan samlat aktörer från näringsliv, offentlig sektor och akademi för att gemensamt ta sig an energiomställningen. Projektledarkompetens med inriktning på infrastruktur hjälper Umeå att växa
Det kommunala bolaget INAB-Infrastruktur i Umeå AB arbetar på uppdrag av Umeå, för Umeå och den regionala nyttan. Inom Umeå kommunkoncern pågår flera projekt där Inab har tilldelats projektledarrollen och nya projekt är på gång där Inab kommer att involveras.
